The Allied Group Acquires DES Printing: sets sights on Strategic and Continued Growth in New England. Acquisition Positions The Allied Group as the Largest Commercial Printing and Fulfillment Company in Rhode Island.

 
Cranston, RI—January 30, 2015—The Allied Group, New England’s leading provider of printing, kitting, mailing and fulfillment services based in Cranston, Rhode Island, announced today the acquisition of DES Printing, a full-service, commercial printer based in Providence, Rhode Island.

DES Printing, a Providence-based and operated business led by President and CEO Rich Halladay, has been a leading full-service, commercial printer offering sheet-fed, digital, wide format and web-to-print capabilities. Effective immediately, DES Printing will be operating as a division of The Allied Group.

“We saw an excellent opportunity to join forces with another well-known and well-respected printer,” commented Robert C. Clement, CEO of The Allied Group. “We have a progressive attitude and approach to growing our business which is critical to maintaining and increasing our relevance in the Rhode Island and New England marketplace. We must have the resources and manpower to provide the new technology that our clients demand. Actions like this play a large role toward accomplishing that strategic goal.”

DES Printing is The Allied Group’s seventh acquisition since 2000. With this most recent acquisition, The Allied Group anticipates that its annual sales will top $20 million in 2015 and that the company will include 150 employees.

As a result of the acquisition, The Allied Group will add numerous new clients to its customer base as well as a significant number of existing DES employees. The Allied Group will also now offer wide-format printing and a feature-rich, enhanced web-to-print solution that enables users to create, manage and distribute printed materials on their own.

November 4, 2009 - Vendor of the Year

Allied was awarded Vendor of the Year at the New England Society for Healthcare Materials Management's (NESHMM) 37th annual dinner on October 21, 2009. This award is given to the organization that is being recognized for providing the highest level of support to the NESHMM and to Materials Management functions within the Healthcare Industry.

September 14, 2009 - Blood Drive for Children's Hospital Boston

The Allied Group and the Courtyard Marriot in Foxboro Massachusetts sponsored a blood drive for Children’s Hospital on September 14, 2009 and we would like to thank the 35 donors who participated in this drive! Children's Hospital Boston's Blood Donor Center is an independent collection facility serving the needs of the pediatric patient's in the Longwood Medical Area.

August 25, 2009 - The Allied Group, honored with a Best of Division award

The Allied Group was honored with a Best of Division award in the category of: Digital Printing - On-Demand in the 2009 Premier Print Awards. The most prestigious international printing competition recognizes outstanding achievement in print production. The Allied Group won the second highest award the judges can bestow in the competition, for our design and print work on Southern New England University's Yield book.

June 16, 2009 - Allied Supports Children's Hospital NSTAR.

Sunday, June 14, 2009 Allied sponsored Children's Hospital's annual NSTAR Walk in Boston to support their work towards the caring and treating of sick and injured children. Allied had a booth at the event and gave away pedometers and backpacks to those participating in the event but also educated people about donating blood and the important role it plays in the care of Children's Hospital patients.

May 26, 2009 - Allied Presents at NEACAC

The Allied Group's Steve Condon, Senior Client Manager, and Elise Hamann, Marketing Manager presented at the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) at Western New England College on Thursday May 28, 2009. The ISO 13485:2003 standard is specifically designed to certify medical device manufacturers and their key suppliers. This standard defines requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements. ISO 9001:2008 is the most recent update of the widely recognized ISO 9001 standard. While not specific to medical device manufacturing, ISO 9001 is intended to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of a quality management system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Our TIPS event on Wednesday, May 14th was a great success.  Attendees from a wide variety of companies including JH Network, B2B Contact Inc, Swarovski, TAB Providence, XRA Medical Imaging and many more came to gleen Biz Tips from both Brian Butler, The Allied Group's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and George Donovan, President of Sandler Training.

In addition to the business experts, TPC's executive chef treated the group to some fabulous grilling tips and shared a savory marinade and rub of his very own for attendees to try at home.  The afternoon ended out at the driving range where TPC's golf pros offered up some tips--Posture, Grip, and Alignment-- and a demonstration that even Tiger and his peers are reminded of on a daily basis.

Three lucky attendees were randomly chosen and received a $250 Gift Certificate to the TPC, $250 Gift Certificate to Omaha Steaks, and 2 Spots to Play at the TPC.
